2024 North West BOB Awards nominations to launch this week

Mark your calendars for this important event. Nominations for the 2024 Best of the Best (BOB) Awards for the North West region are getting ready to launch starting Friday.

The BOB Awards celebrate the best in the North West in a wide variety of areas of arts and entertainment, food and drink, health, beauty and style, local goodness, shopping and services and sports and recreation.

Last year there were over 20,000 nominations from all over the North West, more than 70,000 votes were cast, with 2,512 participants.

Nic Fransoo, program director for Pattison Media in North Battleford and Meadow Lake, noted the BOB Awards covers the whole North West area.

“The Best of the Best Awards is exciting because this is where our listeners in the entire North West can hear us first off can nominate people, places, things, and events where they live,” he said.

People can go onto battlefordsNOW.com and meadowlakeNOW.com, click on the link and go to the Best of the Best Awards, and starting Jan. 12 nominate as many persons, places, businesses, “you name it,” all the way through to Jan. 28.

Once the nomination phase is closed, the system does a tally and takes the top three nominated from each category and puts them into the voting phase.

“Then, you get to vote what you think is the Best of the Best,” Fransoo said.

This is the second year the whole North West region has been open for nominations.

“Anywhere they can hear our voice from our local Battlefords and Meadow Lake radio stations, whether it be 93.3 Beach Radio, or if they are listening to Q98 or CJNB or CJNS – if they can hear us on any of those stations they are eligible to nominate and vote for the Best of the Best,” Fransoo said.

Here are the steps to get involved in this year’s Best of the Best Awards:

Phase 1: Nominations run Friday, Jan. 12 to Sunday, Jan. 28

We’ve populated the lists with popular nominations from 2023, and also some potential nominees. Not seeing the nominee of your choice? No problem. Feel free to write them in and they will be added to the list. You can nominate as often as you wish during the nomination phase. You can even nominate yourself. Only the most nominated will make the cut for the final ballot. Let the games begin!

Phase 2: Voting runs from Monday, Feb. 5 to Sunday, Feb. 25

We’ll tally the nominations and only the top three finalists will be placed on the ballot (minimum two). Vote now and vote often. You are allowed to vote daily.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, Feb. 28
