Two women are facing manslaughter charges in connection with the death of a 32-year-old woman.

Kaylee Crookedneck, from the Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation, died June 16 in North Battleford.

According to the RCMP, officers were called to a home on 114th Street just after 11 p.m. for a report of an injured person. Police said officers found Crookedneck injured at the scene, and provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene, and police said her death was being treated as a homicide.

On Friday, police announced that two women were facing charges in connection with Crookedneck’s death.

According to the RCMP, Kiara Mooswa, a 21-year-old from the Poundmaker First Nation, was arrested Tuesday, while 34-year-old Janine Wapass from North Battleford was arrested Thursday.

Both women have been charged with manslaughter, and both were scheduled to appear in court this week in North Battleford.
