Man facing manslaughter charge following Meota altercation appears in court

A man facing a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of Richard Buck appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court today.

Clarence Buck, 29, from North Battleford, was originally charged with aggravated assault. The charge was upgraded to manslaughter Monday.

Clarence Buck and the victim are related.

The accused who is in custody appeared in court via video link.

Judge Kevin Hill ordered Buck to abide by a no contact order for three individuals.

Arrangements are being made for further legal counsel for the accused.

Clarence Buck is due back in court on July 25 at 11 a.m.

Police previously stated, on July 6 at about 1 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an assault at a home in Meota. As a result of the incident, one man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an altercation with another man. Two days later, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit was advised the victim, 56-year-old Richard Buck, died from his injuries.
