New location for Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Dinner in Meadow Lake

Jun 23, 2023 | 5:09 PM

The 2023 Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame’s (SHHOF) 10th Annual Induction Dinner coming to Meadow Lake in August will now take place at the Meadow Lake Golf Club.

The location change was recently announced.

The Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame (SHHOF) along with Hockey Saskatchewan and the City of Meadow Lake are partnering to organize this initiative. They announced the host community and class of 2023 for the annual Induction Dinner earlier this year.

Tickets to the event are available at the Meadow Lake Aquatic Centre at 615 Centre Street, or online through the city’s website.

Melissa Shaw, with the City of Swift Current and the SHHOF, is looking forward to the event, and seeing the new induction class honoured in the Hall of Fame.

“We will get to celebrate their successes, not only on the ice but as community founders and coaches throughout the hockey world in Saskatchewan,” she told meadowlakeNOW. “We are excited to go up to [Meadow Lake]. I hear they have a fantastic event planned for us and for the Hall of Fame. It’s going to be a great night for the inductees.”

The SHHOF announced the evening will be a celebration highlighting the careers and accomplishments of the five inductees and one team that are all worthy of this great achievement.

The Class of 2023 Inductees

Jeff Friesen of Meadow Lake, Wade Redden from Lloydminster and Hillmond and Ron Greschner of Goodsoil are being inducted in the player’s category.

In the builders/grassroots category, you have the King family – Dayna King, D.J. King, Dwight King and Danene (King) Kopperud – who are all from Meadow Lake.

The official’s category inductee is Mark Wheler from the Battlefords.

And the 2005-06/2007-08 Meadow Lake Stampeders are being inducted under the team category.
