A 16-year-old is facing multiple charges in connection with an alleged assault at North Battleford Comprehensive High School last week.

Because he is under 18, the youth cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

On Wednesday, September 14, RCMP said they were called to the school to respond to an assault that took place around 12:30 p.m. One student had a non-life-threatening injury stemming from the incident.

As a result of the incident, the school went into lockdown while police searched for the suspect and eventually the school was closed for the day. When police determined it was safe, the students were escorted to the nearby Access Communications Centre for pickup and bussing. The suspect was arrested at a home that afternoon, without incident.
