Those with an interest in unique and hard-to-find items will want to attend the gun, archery and collectibles show-and-sale coming to the local area.

The annual event, being organized by the Battlefords Wildlife Federation in conjunction with the North Battleford Lion’s Club, will be a new location this year. All the activity will take place at the Battleford arena, instead of the Agriplex.

Brian Friijouf, with the North Battleford Lions Club, said people can expect to see a wide assortment of items available for purchase.

“There will be a little bit of antiques, old lamps, tea cups and things like that,” he said.

The event will also feature various types of guns, as well as coins, stamps and toy farm equipment among the wares.

“Originally the show started off as a farm toy show and, over the years, it has evolved a bit more to increase the appeal to many more people,” Friijouf said.

He encourages people to drop by to see if they find something interesting.

“There will be the odd table of displays but most of it will be for sale. A dealer will be there to try to sell whatever is there,” he said.

Concessions will be available on-site for grabbing a bite while taking in the show.

Friijouf said the last time the event was held was in 2019, before the pandemic restrictions started, so it will be good to have it return this year.

“I would suggest they come out and see it, for the idea that it’s [for] collectibles. And it’s only $5 to get in the door so that’s not so bad,” he said. “There will be displays of guns, toys and antiques that you just will not see anywhere else.”

The show and sale runs Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
