Daily COVID count includes 1,223 new cases, 181 in northern zones

The province is reporting another 1,223 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.

No new deaths have been reported for nearly the last two weeks with the government confirming today no Saskatchewan residents with COVID have died.

Of the new cases, 181 are located in northern Saskatchewan; Far North West (15), Far North Central (six), Far North East (12), North West (45), North Central (66), and North East (37).

There are currently 11,894 cases considered active, an increase of 113 cases from yesterday when factoring in the 1,147 recoveries also reported in the province. This active case count also includes 1,545 that are currently active in northern Saskatchewan.

Almost two-fifths (37 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

As of Jan. 19, a total of 199 individuals are hospitalized, including 178 inpatient hospitalizations and 21 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 178 inpatients, 90 are a COVID-19-related illness, 71 are incidental COVID infections, and 17 have not yet been determined. Of the 21 ICU patients, 15 are for COVID-19 related illnesses, five have incidental COVID-19 infections, and one is undetermined.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported 56 new cases in NITHA communities on Jan. 18.

Of the new cases, 16 (29 per cent) are not vaccinated; 12 (21 per cent) are partially vaccinated; 24 (43 per cent) are fully vaccinated; and four (seven per cent) are not ineligible for vaccination.

There are 168 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 10; Far North West, 33; Far North East, 82; North Central, 11; and North East, 32. There have been 7,091 cases (97 per cent) have recovered, and there are 0 hospitalizations.
