‘We’re very excited’: Battleford arena expansion moves from planning to construction
Battleford’s long-awaited arena expansion is set to move from planning to construction after town council awarded a $4.3-million construction contract Monday, bringing one of the community’s largest recreation projects a step closer to reality.
Council awarded the contract to Lyle V. Schell Construction Management Services for $4,300,214, excluding taxes, after engineers determined the company submitted the lowest compliant bid. Including engineering, consulting and materials testing, the project is expected to cost about $4.86 million.
Mayor Ames Leslie said the decision marks an important milestone after years of planning.
“We’re very excited,” Leslie said following the regular council meeting Monday.
