Multiple RCMP units are investigating an incident where police were fired upon.

Battlefords RCMP responded to a call shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, alleging that two individuals were travelling on the Mosquito First Nation with firearms. While officers were investigating, a firearm was discharged at one of their vehicles as an officer was driving it. The hood of the police vehicle was struck and no one was injured.

The vehicle where the gunfire came from is a dark blue 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, which officers followed to a residence on Mosquito First Nation. The occupants of the vehicle fled and Battlefords RCMP, with the assistance of additional units, contained the area and later executed a search warrant at the residence, seizing the Chevrolet Cruze.

Police are asking any who saw this vehicle Tuesday evening to call their local detachment. (submitted/RCMP SK Media)

The Saskatoon General Investigation Section has now taken over this investigation assisted by Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford and Saskatoon Forensic Identification Sections and the Prince Albert and North Battleford General Investigation Sections. The scene of the firearm discharge, the residence, the police vehicle and the Chevrolet Cruze are being processed for evidence.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the suspects vehicle on Tuesday. To report information about this incident, call your local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP and to stay anonymous, call Crime Stoppers.
