North Stars fall to Terriers despite dogged effort
As the old adage goes, every dog has its day, and unfortunately for North Stars’ fans, Saturday was one of those days, as the Yorkton Terriers defeated the Stars 6-4 at the Civic Centre.
For the North Stars, the defeat marked only their second regulation loss in their last nine games.
Austin Becker opened things up, breaking the goose egg just before the midway point of the first period. The scoring play developed thanks to a nice job holding the offensive blue line by North Stars’ defensive cornerstone Cody Spagrud.
Spagrud, knowing it was only a matter of time until the net front became prime real estate, wound up a shot, and fired it to the front of the Terriers’ goalmouth.
