McArthur River/Key Lake back to full production after floods

Cameco’s McArthur River mine and Key Lake mill in northern Saskatchewan are back at full production after spring flooding disrupted operations earlier this month.

The company made the announcement Wednesday afternoon and said neither operation’s 2026 output will be affected by the closures.

On May 10, Cameco announced that spring flooding had affected its ability to operate, with the washout of the Smoothstone River bridge a key factor.

The bridge is part of the main transport route Cameco uses to haul product to market. That route is not yet fully restored, but the company has found an alternate way to deliver its product.
