Battlefords assault leaves man hospitalized, sisters found

Jul 26, 2021 | 3:06 PM

A 28 year old male was reportedly assaulted and forcibly removed from a residence by several suspects, before being taken to a rural location south of Battleford where he was assaulted again and abandoned.

This occurred on the 700 block of 110th Street in North Battleford, during the early morning hours of July 25, where the man was situated as a guest.

Following the assault, the victim was able to make his way to a local residence, where police and ambulance services responded, transporting him to hospital. His injuries included lacerations to his arm and back, which were likely caused by an edged weapon used in the assault. However, the victim is expected to make a full recovery. Sgt. Neil Tremblay said this is a unique and serious case.

“We’re trying to find suspects as quickly as possible,” he said.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the matter remains under investigation. While the victim has indicated that he didn’t know who his assailants were, Tremblay said it does seem that they may have known some of the same people at least.

“This does not appear to be an incident where these people targeted someone randomly on the street,” he said.

Battlefords RCMP are asking anyone with information related to this incident to call the detachment, or Crimestoppers.
