Wanted man arrested and charged after two separate incidents of pointing a firearm

Battlefords have charged 23-year-old Creedance Stone for multiple offences, including five counts of pointing a firearm

The North Battleford male was originally wanted for an incident in Red Pheasant Cree Nation on June 6, but was involved in another firearm situation on the 1300 block of 110 Street Monday evening. Stone, along with two women, was pursued by police out of the Battlefords and subsequently arrested hours later.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said they were pleased the arrest was dealt with relatively safely, where Stone was isolated in the woods and multiple police units contained the area.

“It was an opportunity to take our time because we weren’t dealing with an urban environment,” he said. “We weren’t dealing with an environment where other people were in any danger at that point.”

However, Tremblay said the situation was unique and concerning for a number of reasons. One is that the suspect and victims don’t appear to have known each other and there isn’t an indication of what sparked the incident. There were also multiple victims, where five people in total had a firearm pointed at them.

“Seems to be a relatively random act and the time of day (around 9:00 p.m.) means it was still very light out, where a lot of pedestrian traffic is to be expected,” Tremblay said. “There did not appear to be any attempt to take anything and there wasn’t even any verbal interaction that we are aware of.”

In addition to the five counts of pointing a firearm, Stone is charged with possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, flight from police, and resisting arrest. He remains in custody and appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court today.

Tremblay said charges against the two female suspects are still pending.

“They’re no longer in custody and will likely be appearing on a number of charges in September, but I haven’t been given all the information yet or any confirmation,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
