Fireman’s Lunch and Silent Auction to take place next week

Apr 13, 2021 | 4:22 PM

Residents of the Battlefords can look forward to some delivery lunch service with a smile, from their local firefighters next week.

The North West College and North Battleford Firefighter Local 1756 will be hosting a Fireman’s Lunch Fundraiser April 22, accompanied by online silent auction, April 21 to 28.

The event will be a twist on the annual Fireman’s Ball, which has traditionally been a banquet style event.

Due to the pandemic, instead of the usual sit-down dinner and program, residents will have the opportunity to place their order for this year’s event online, which will then be delivered to them by the firefighters from the local detachment.

The lunch is sponsored by Blend Restaurant and Bar and will be lemon pepper chicken with rice pilaf and a garden salad for $15. Lunch orders must be submitted by April 19, with the delivery to take place April 22.

All proceeds from the lunch and silent auction will go towards supporting the North West College Scholarship Fund and North Battleford Firefighter Local 1756 Charity Fund.

President and CEO of North West College, Jay Notay said they are looking forward to hosting the event this year, as it remains as important as ever to provide scholarship and post-secondary opportunities to students to help them achieve their academic goals.

“It’s essential we continue to support our students during these times,” Notay said. “This event is our major scholarship fundraiser and allows us to support the students in our community by reducing the financial burden of pursuing their educational goals.

“Education is a key component of economic development for our community and our region,” Notay continued. “We are very grateful to the firefighter union and the community we live in who step up time and time again to support this great cause.”

For more information, visit the North West College Facebook page, or call the North West College at (306) 937-5100. The silent auction link will be available next week via Facebook.
