Big River First Nation man pleads not guilty to sexual assault charge

A man facing several charges, including sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm, is maintaining his innocence.

Skylar Blaze Lachance, 22, has entered not guilty pleas and will trial July 16.

The matter was last spoken to on Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court during the Sandy Bay docket.

The alleged incidents happened last January at Big River First Nation.

According to information provided by the Big River RCMP, they received a call from the female victim after the incident. She received medical treatment from injuries as a result.

A warrant was issued for Lachance’s arrest on Jan. 23, and he was arrested by the RCMP on March 3, without incident.

The case was first spoken to in court on March 9.
