Mayor expresses condolences to families of victims of two separate NB tragedies

Jun 9, 2020 | 8:08 AM

North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater took the opportunity at the start of Monday’s online council meeting to express his condolences to the families who lost loved ones in two separate tragedies last week.

Four people lost their lives in a single day on June 4 – a mother and two children at a house fire on 99 Street in the 1400 block, and a sudden death of a man in a separate incident on 101 Street in the 1400 block.

The two matters are unrelated, and remain under investigation.

“We’re a small community, which means the connections we have with each other tend to be quite strong,” the mayor said. “This has impacted a lot of friends and families of those who have passed.”

Bater mentioned there are a number of resources in the area available for anyone who is struggling and may be in need of support right now.

“I just want to acknowledge, this is a difficult time for those who are grieving,” he said.
