Sentencing for two convicted of accessory after the fact in Laverdiere homicide adjourned to May
The sentencing for two individuals who each previously pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder in the Tiki Laverdiere homicide investigation were adjourned, due to the court’s directives related to COVID-19 precautions.
Brent Checkosis and Mavis Takakenew who are in custody were scheduled to appear at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford Wednesday for sentencing but their cases were postponed to May 15 instead.
Checkosis, 19, pleaded guilty on Dec. 20, 2019 to accessory after the fact to the murder of Tiki Laverdiere on May 1, 2019, in North Battleford.
Checkosis did not enter any plea to the outstanding charges of improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.
