KidSport receives over $13K from Operation Red Nose

The North Battleford Lions Club held an official check presentation Friday to hand over monies raised during the Operation Red Nose campaign to KidSport.

Starting in November and ending New Year’s Eve, volunteers offered a free service to drive the cars of and those who were drinking home, with an option to donate. According to Lion, Bill Bowman, a total of $13, 200 was collected during the holiday program. 

This was the ninth year for Operation Red Nose and Bowman said the Battlefords chapter has raised $60, 156 over the last five years alone. Bowman added a total of 255 rides were provided between 32 volunteers who put in a total of 822 hours. Bowman said 100 per cent of the proceeds will go directly to KidSport.

KidSport co-chair David Schell said the donation is truly appreciated.

“This donation is absolutely amazing, and we are thrilled to partner with Lions annually for the great initiative and fundraiser,” Schell said.

He added KidSport helped 410 local kids participate in sports. The program also provided over $80,000 to local organizations.

“Without donations like this from The North Battleford Lions Club and Operation Red Nose, none of this would be possible.”

Across the province, Operation Red Nose drove a total of 1,308 people home safe and over 71,000 Canada wide.
