Oct 19, 2019 | 10:22 AM

RCMP say they are now investigating the death of a man in Battleford as a homicide.

Officers in the Battlefords and several specialized RCMP units continue to investigate the death of 27-year-old Ryan John Gatzke.

Gatzke was found with serious injuries around 1 Ave. and 26 St. in Battleford around 1 a.m. on Oct. 18. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police ask anyone who was in this area between midnight and 2 a.m. to come forward with any information on suspicious or out of the ordinary activity they may have seen. This could include unfamiliar vehicles, loud noises or suspicious people or activity.

The RCMP said they believe there is no threat to public safety but remind people in both communities to be observant and report any suspicious activity to police.

An autopsy has been ordered was conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
