JPII students presented with awards

Jun 8, 2018 | 2:00 PM

The accomplishments of students at John Paul II Collegiate were recognized at their Undergrad Awards Night Monday.

Students were presented with a range of awards, including Highest Academic Average and Honour Roll. Vice Principal Bruce Yockey said the students enjoyed the night.

“I thought it went really smooth,” Yockey said, “We had a crowd of around 550 people. Parents, students, family, and grandparents. It was a good night and ran pretty quick with all of our award winners there.”

The winners of the Highest Academic Average awards were Brynne Nachtegaele (Grade 8), Jenny Do (Grade 9), Jaylyn Schulkowsky (Grade 10), and Lauren Brandle (Grade 11).

“We did all the awards and then at the end we presented honour roll certificates at all levels,” Yockey said, “We had very high percentages this year. Earning something like that still means a lot to kids.”

No grade 12 awards were presented, as their grad awards ceremony take place June 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the John Paul II gymnasium.
