She said this lottery, which is 22 years old, is the foundation’s most successful fundraiser. McGuire added it always gains a lot of support because of the cause the money goes to, and because of the chance to win something back.

“It’s for a good cause and any money that’s being spent stays within the community; it doesn’t leave,” she said.

To honour the foundation’s anniversary, the theme of the prizes will have something to do with the number 22. There will be two events, one in September and one in October, where there will be a draw for $1,000 every 22 minutes up to $22,000. Then there will be the namesake grand prize draw of $100,000, one prize of $2,200 and 22 consolation prizes of $1,000.
