North Stars close out record-breaking season with shutout
It was another shutout for the Battlefords North Stars against the Kindersley Klippers to close out their 2016-17 regular season, this time 5-0 at the Civic Centre.
Battlefords won 6-0 on Friday against the Klippers and finishes the year a perfect 10-0 against Kindersley. They were also 8-0 against them last season.
But the focus after the win wasn’t on the games between division rivals, but more so on the season as a whole.
Battlefords won 48 of 58 games, set an all-time SJHL record for fewest goals allowed in a single season with 103, and had a goal differential of +120. The previous record for fewest goals allowed was 113 by the 2007-08 Humboldt Broncos.
