In a previous interview with battlefordsNOW, Shirely Maze, the museum’s rental supervisor, said her team tried to capture the spirit of a medieval feast as closely as possible. Authenticity, Maze said, means the royal word is law.

“Be nice to the queen,” Maze said. “Come prepared because as a punishment she may ask you to sing a song or recite a poem.”

Maze added that the queen’s table was the only one with salt available, as the seasoning was very precious during medieval times.

This year’s Queen, Tammy Donahue Buziak, joked she planned to rule with an iron fist.

“I’m very interested in sending people to the stockade,” Donahue Buziak said.

Donahue Buziak said she attended the feast last year, and knew this year she wanted a seat at the head table.

“Oh it was so much fun. There was the head table and it was like ‘wow, if a person could have an opportunity to do that we would certainly be interested,’” she said. “We love to dress up.”

The feast sold out so fast that museum staff said they are planning to host two similar medieval events this year.
