Sask. cattle farmers support premier’s A&W tweet
Cattle farmers are showing their support for the premier and his beef with A&W.
A&W advertises that their burgers only use beef that is raised without the use hormones and steroids, which some farmers are calling misleading.
“It casts a lot of doubt on the whole rest of the industry and there’s a whole lot of research and development that these are safe products that we use and the hormones are naturally occurring hormones that are used and the in the animals naturally,” said Larry Toner who farms near Kelfield, Sask. who was in Regina for Agribition. “To say that their product is hormone free is incorrect, there are naturally occurring hormones in them all the time.”
The restaurant chain does get some of its beef from Canada, but also from the U.S., Australia and New Zealand as well.
