R.M. incumbents face little competition
Out of four R.M.s in the Battlefords region, and 17 possible races, only three incumbent councillors face challenge to their seats in next month’s municipal election.
All candidates will be acclaimed in the R.M. of North Battleford. Dan Bartko will return as reeve, Robert Hujdic is returning as Division One councillor and Todd Winterhalt is returning for Division Three. In Division Five new councillor Ryan Shepherd will step up to the municipal plate.
Former councillor Sherry Jimmy will be acclaimed as reeve in the R.M. of Meota. Division One councillor Robert Stishenko faces a four-way battle between himself and hopefuls Cody Moor, Richard Lesmeister and Henry Redekop. There will also be an election in Division Five between Kelvin Heidel and Vernon Seabrook, while Larry Clarke will be acclaimed in Division Three.
In the R.M. of Battle River, Reeve Joe Beckman will return to his council seat. Division One councillor Stewart Mitchell and Division Seven councillor Pat Scherman are also being acclaimed. The only race belongs to Division Three where both incumbent Barry Williams and Bob Froleck will run to represent the R.M.
