UPDATE: Two men charged in semi, train incident

Aug 17, 2016 | 2:17 PM

UPDATE: Two men from Manitoba face charges after a semi crashed into a parked train.

RCMP said, at roughly 12:12 p.m., a blown tire forced the truck off Highway 16 and into railcars, derailing one of them.

Police accused the two men of operating the truck, knowing it was in a hazardous state.

A semi-trailer truck veered off the highway and slammed into a parked train Wednesday.

The incident happened on the outskirts of North Battleford just south of the Viterra grain elevator.

RCMP said there were two occupants in the vehicle when it hit the train and both have been transported to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The rig did not have a trailer attached and was the only vehicle involved.

RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
