WPD Ambulance aims to bring Christmas gifts to more than 500 Battlefords children
An empty Christmas tree is a familiar sight in the homes WPD Ambulance paramedics enter in North Battleford.
Erik Marcoux, an advanced care paramedic supervisor, said crews often meet people on their worst days. Their annual Cram the Ambulance toy drive is a chance to “give back in a positive way” and help children who might otherwise have nothing to open on Christmas Day.
“I think everyone deserves to have a good Christmas and to be happy and be able to open something,” said Marcoux, who coordinates the campaign.
This year, he hopes to collect enough toys to fill five or six ambulances, surpassing last year’s record collection of four. More than 500 children are expected to need gifts this Christmas, he said.
