New flashing lights could be coming to three North Battleford crosswalks
North Battleford council has approved an application for provincial funding to add flashing lights at three pedestrian crossings – but only after questioning whether the city had chosen the locations where they would do the most good.
The application seeks funding for six solar-powered signs, with two placed at each crossing. The proposed locations are at the east end of 21st Avenue and mid-block in the 1000 blocks of 101st and 102nd streets.
The equipment would be installed in 2027 if the application succeeds.
The review began after the RCMP detachment requested enhanced safety measures on 102nd Street between the detachment and the access to the 103rd Street parking lot.
