Sākewew High School to mark 25th anniversary with community powwow
Sākewew High School is marking its 25th anniversary with an estimated 220 students, a community powwow planned for Sept. 24 and a message for families who heard otherwise: its doors remain open.
Principal Shauna Bugler said questions continued throughout the summer despite the school promoting registration and the upcoming celebration.
“It’s actually quite disheartening for us because a lot of the communities thought that our doors were closed this past June,” Bugler said.
The uncertainty began after Living Sky School Division and Light of Christ Catholic Schools announced they would end a partnership with Sākewew that had existed for nearly 25 years. Their shared agreement with the school is scheduled to conclude June 30, 2027.
