After 25 years, Linda Machniak leaves Battlefords businesses connected and heard
Most Battlefords residents may never have called Linda Machniak, but for 25 years she helped ensure the businesses they relied on had someone to support them – and a voice when governments discussed issues affecting the community.
Business owners, chamber officials and local leaders gathered Friday for a party marking the former Chief Operating Officer’s retirement from the Battlefords and District Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber connects local businesses and brings their shared concerns to municipal, provincial and federal leaders. People who worked with Machniak said she put that broad mandate into practice by building relationships, answering questions and ensuring businesses were heard.
Board chair Ashlee Babin experienced that ability to connect people after Machniak recruited her to the board about six years ago, then introduced her to members of the local business community.
