Dutch elm disease confirmed in Unity, pruning restriction extended
A confirmed case of Dutch elm disease (DED) has prompted the Town of Unity to extend its elm-pruning restriction until Sept. 30 and increase monitoring of trees across the community.
The restriction normally runs from April 1 to Aug. 31.
“This is something we need to take seriously,” the town said in a public notice.
The town said Unity is fortunate to have many beautiful and mature Elm trees throughout the community.
