Battlefords Chamber appoints new chief operating officer

A new chief operating officer has been appointed to the Battlefords and District Chamber of Commerce following the retirement of longtime COO Linda Machniak.

Greg Kwong has taken on the role, while Machniak will remain with the chamber as senior adviser during the transition.

“Greg brings valuable professional experience and strong ties to the community, along with a genuine commitment to supporting local business and building meaningful connections,” said Ashlee Babiy, 2026 chair of the board. “We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to the impact he will make.”

Kwong brings more than 14 years of experience in the education sector, most recently serving as basic education program co-ordinator with North West College.

During his time with the college, he co-ordinated Adult Basic Education at the Battlefords campus and in the southern region of the catchment area. He was also involved in program development and co-ordination of Essential Skills for the Workplace programs.

Kwong also co-ordinated the Try-A-Trade Interactive Career Fair for four years and previously served as the college’s marketing and communications officer and student recruitment officer.

“I am proud to have an opportunity to serve the board of directors of the Battlefords & District Chamber of Commerce and to represent Battlefords Chamber members,” Kwong said.

“Being from the Battlefords, I am excited to support the local business community in growing and being sustainable for many more years to come. I look forward to advocating for their needs and to promote the local business interests in the Battlefords & District.”

The Battlefords and District Chamber of Commerce represents businesses across North Battleford, Battleford and the rural municipalities of Battle River, North Battleford and Meota.
