JULY 19 to 26

Battlefords Pride highlights inclusion with week of events

Jul 16, 2026 | 4:30 PM

Battlefords Pride group will mark Pride Week beginning July 19 with a week of events aimed at celebrating inclusion and creating welcoming spaces throughout the community.

Kelly Waters, secretary with Battlefords Pride, said the annual celebration is an opportunity to remind people they are supported.

“Identity is something to celebrate,” she said. “It’s a time where, if you come out to these events, it’s a safe space. Even if you don’t come out, you know that there’s people out there that offer a welcoming, safe space in our community.”

The week will begin with a community crosswalk painting at 11 a.m. on July 19 in front of the North Battleford Public Library. Other events include a gender-affirming clothing swap on Monday, a family game night on Tuesday, a drag show on Friday and several activities throughout the week.

One of the week’s signature events will be the Pride in Park celebration on Saturday.

“Saturday’s a big day because at noon is our little parade. We will gather in front of the North Battleford Public Library, and we’ll make our way over to Kinsman Park. So over in that playground, there’ll be a circus tent set up and bounty castle and live entertainment from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.,” Waters said.

The festival will feature live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, cultural games, face painting and other family-friendly activities.

Waters is also encouraging volunteers to help paint the Pride crosswalk at the start of the week.

“The one in North Battleford is very complicated. So it’s more crucial that more people show up, even if it’s just for an hour or even half an hour. A person can just stop by for like half an hour or be there all day, whatever they want to do,” she said.

She thanked the Battlefords community for its continued support and for helping create a welcoming environment for people of all identities.
