2026-27 season approaches as SJHL releases pre-season schedule

Jul 16, 2026 | 3:34 PM

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) has released its pre-season schedule.

The pre-season will begin Sept. 4 with three games across the league and run through Sept. 13.

Each team will play between three and six pre-season games. The Estevan Bruins will play the fewest pre-season games in the league with three, while the Melville Millionaires and Weyburn Red Wings will each play six.

SJHL teams will also face opponents from the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) during the pre-season.

The Battlefords North Stars will play four pre-season games, beginning Sept. 7 when they host the Kindersley Klippers.

The North Stars will then travel to Thunderchild First Nation on Sept. 8 to face their lone non-SJHL opponent, the AJHL’s Lloydminster Bobcats. It will mark the second straight pre-season the North Stars have played the Bobcats at Thunderchild.

The North Stars will wrap up the pre-season by hosting the Warman Wolverines on Sept. 10 before travelling to Warman on Sept. 11 for the teams’ final exhibition matchup.

Following the pre-season, the North Stars will have a one-week break before opening the regular season against the Klippers on Sept. 18.
