North Battleford to replace parking machines with pay-by-phone system downtown
Drivers parking in North Battleford’s downtown municipal parking lot will soon pay by smartphone instead of parking machines after city council approved a new digital payment system Monday.
The city will replace its existing pay stations at the 1051 101st Street parking lot with a QR code-based system that allows motorists to pay and extend their parking session remotely from their phones.
The new platform also eliminates numbered parking stalls, allowing drivers to park in any available space, while Community Safety Officers will enforce the lot using licence plate recognition technology.
Director of Finance Margarita Pena said the new system gives drivers more flexibility.
