SaskPower reported that it was responding to outages in the entire ‘Central North’ portion of the province Saturday night. An estimated time of repair was not provided.

The entire city of Prince Albert went black around 10:50 p.m. following a major storm that brought destructive winds, heavy rain, hail and lightning.

Several streets saw localized flooding. There were also downed branches, however, the full extent of damage was not visible in the dark.

As the storm tracked east of Prince Albert, a post on the Kinistino Fire Department’s Facebook page, said a plow wind that hit town caused significant damage.

“Please avoid driving around till we can assess the situation and make sure no power lines are in contact with the ground,” the post read.

SaskPower said due to safety reasons crews will cease work for the night and will continue to work on repairs in Kinistino at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

Earlier in the evening, several videos online showed a tornado touching down near Onion Lake.
