“Whether it was business community donating prizes for the event, sponsoring our event, or our racers going out and getting pledges, our volunteers showing up and giving us their time. We really couldn’t have had this event and had a successful event without everyone that contributed in some way.”

In the end, the event raised more than $29,000. 

Combres said the money raised during Race for Kids goes back to BGC Battlefords and is used for programming. 

“It helps us provide quality programs and services throughout the entire year to over 700 children and youth,” she said.

Combres also expressed her gratitude for everyone involved in putting together a successful Race for Kids. 

“If it wasn’t for our sponsors and our donors, racers and our volunteers, we wouldn’t have had the successful event that we had that we had,” she said. 

“Our slogan for the event is grown-ups play, kids win. That’s truly what happened that night.”
