North Battleford apartment fire forces residents from homes

A Saturday morning apartment fire in the 1100 block of 104th Street forced about 40 North Battleford residents from their homes, though no injuries were reported. 

The NBFD said the fire started in the kitchen of a third-floor unit. Crews contained it to that suite, but there was significant water damage throughout the building. 

The fire department and WPD Ambulance evacuated about 40 residents and took them to a City of North Battleford facility while alternative accommodations were arranged. 

Battlefords Housing Authority is helping find temporary housing for those displaced by the fire. Crews were expected to remain on scene for part of the afternoon Saturday.
