Nominations open for 32nd Battlefords Business Excellence Awards

Nominations are now open for the 32nd annual Battlefords Business Excellence Awards, with organizers encouraging residents to recognize local businesses and employees making a local impact.

The BBEX Awards committee, together with the Battlefords and District Chamber of Commerce and title sponsor Gold Eagle Casino, announced the opening of the 2026 nomination period May 14.

Public nominations will remain open until midnight June 18, while nominees will have until July 23 to submit completed application packages.

“The 2026 edition of the awards program, the 32nd Battlefords Business Excellence Awards, will shine a light on the vision, generosity, knowledge and sustained excellence that business has shown as they continue to emerge from the unprecedented challenges of a global pandemic, supply chain issues, workforce shortages, and more,” the release stated.

Awards categories include Business of the Year, Community Contribution, Agriculture and Agri-Business, Young Entrepreneur, Impact Award and Heritage Award.

The Heather Guthrie Customer Service Star Award, which alternates annually between recognizing a business owner and an employee, will focus on an individual employee in 2026.

“We are thrilled to be planning and hosting the BBEX awards program again this year,” BBEX committee co-chair Samantha Swanson said in the release.

“It is always so great to celebrate the business community, see them come together and receive recognition for their contributions and hard work.”

The committee is planning an in-person banquet and gala celebration for Nov. 5 in North Battleford.

Residents can submit nominations through the chamber’s website by selecting the “Celebrating 32 Years BBEX Business Excellence” logo and completing the online nomination form.

Once submitted, the chamber will forward a full application package to the nominated business or individual.
