Fire ban

City of North Battleford issues fire ban

May 2, 2026 | 11:01 AM

The City of North Battleford has issued a fire ban for all residents, effective immediately.

The ban comes after the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) said the current Fire Weather Index (FWI) for the region is considered “high”, bordering on “extreme”, due to dry conditions.

The fire ban in North Battleford prohibits all burning except within approved fire pits, while the use of external cooking devices like barbecues and smokers remains permitted. The city is urging any residents who spot a fire or burn outside of approved fire pits to immediately report it to the North Battleford Fire Department by calling 9-1-1.

The fire ban will remain in place until it’s rescinded by officials from the Fire Department.

More information about North Battleford fire permits can be found here, and a regularly updated FWI map can be found here

A Voyent Alert has also been issued to the City of North Battleford which details the fire ban.
