UPDATE: As of Wednesday at 4:47 p.m., the RM of Meadow Lake said the three previously closed roads remain shut, while Range Road 3183 south of Airport Road is restricted to local traffic only.

Officials say crews and council members are on the ground placing signage and monitoring conditions. The Water Security Agency is advising residents experiencing yard flooding or concerns about drinking water to call 1-866-727-5420 for assistance.

“There’s good teamwork happening with the community, with the city, and with the SPSA. So it’s been a positive day,” the RM told meadowlakeNOW.

Several roads are closed in the Rural Municipality of Meadow Lake No. 588 Wednesday as crews respond to rapidly changing conditions after a state of emergency was declared.

The RM said three roads are closed until further notice: Township Road 610 to Highway 4, Township Road 602 to Range Road 3180 and 3175, and Range Road 3175 to Township 604 and 602.

“Road conditions are changing rapidly,” the RM said, advising residents to watch for water washing over road surfaces and to use caution near culverts, bridges and low-lying areas.

The municipality declared a state of emergency Tuesday in anticipation of potential flooding.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is on the ground supporting the RM after arriving yesterday. The RM said the situation is under control at this time.

Residents are advised to stay alert, avoid water-covered roads and ensure they have an evacuation plan in place.

A social media post from a resident indicates Makwa, about 57 kilometres west, is also being impacted by flooding linked to spring runoff. meadowlakeNOW has reached out to the village for more information and is awaiting a response.
