GAME 7

North Stars in winner take all game seven against the Yorkton Terriers

Apr 15, 2026 | 11:34 AM

The Battlefords North Stars are back in Yorkton to face off with the Terriers in game seven of the SJHL semifinals. It’s the biggest game of the entire season so far and will be the last for one of the teams.

With the Weyburn Red Wings and Flin Flon Bombers also playing in game seven tonight, it marks the first time since 2005 that both SJHL semifinals series go to game seven.

The North Stars were well on their way to clinching the series in game six, up 3-1 at one point in the second period, but the Terriers scored five unanswered goals in the latter half of the game to win 6-3 and force game seven back in Yorkton.

In game six, Tylan Henrikson scored a pair of goals, and now has three goals in his last two games.

Jye Zawatsky had the game winning goal for the Terriers and leads Yorkton in points throughout the series with seven (4G-3A) in six games. Zawatsky’s linemate, Gabriel Courchesne, leads the team throughout the playoffs with 16 points (4G-12A) in 12 games.

For the North Stars, Josh Knittig continues to lead the way in scoring throughout the series and playoffs. This series, Knittig has 10 points (2G-8A) in six games, and 20 (6G-14A) in 11 games through the entire postseason.

This series, the away team has won the last three games, and four of the six games played. The North Stars have a 3-2 record on the road through the playoffs and are 2-1 at Westland Arena in the series. The Terriers are 3-3 on home ice and haven’t lost three straight games at home all season.

Last time the North Stars played in game seven of a series, they took down the Flin Flon Bombers in the first round of the 2019 playoffs on the way to a championship.

The Terriers last game seven came in 2022, when they beat the Melfort Mustangs in seven games in the first round before being swept by the Estevan Bruins.

Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7 p.m. The Ultra Print pregame show begins half an hour before puck drop on CJNB/CJNS.
