Man arrested after high-speed chase in stolen semi near North Battleford

Feb 19, 2026 | 2:59 PM

A man has been arrested and charged after fleeing from RCMP in a stolen semi-truck near North Battleford.

On Feb 18, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Battlefords RCMP attempted to perform a traffic stop on a stolen semi-truck that was approaching North Battleford on Highway 16. The driver fled from officers and continued down the highway at a high rate of speed.

Additional officers blocked the highway to ensure the semi-truck remained at a safe distance from the public. They set up a tire deflation device that the truck then ran over. The vehicle continued down the highway and hit a second tire deflation device, causing its tire to begin to disintegrate. The semi-truck continued to drive on the tire rims until it veered off the road and came to a stop.

RCMP officers were able to contain the vehicle; an adult man exited and was arrested without incident.

Inspector Ryan How, Battlefords RCMP Detachment Commander, said the officers worked quickly to ensure other drivers stayed a safe distance from the dangerous situation.

“A stolen semi travelling at high speeds on a highway is incredibly risky for everyone involved. The leadership, communication, and tactics used by our officers are a direct reflection of their commitment to keeping our communities safe,” he said.

As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Adam Cole from Camrose, Alberta has been charged with:

  • one count, operation while prohibited
  • one count, flight from police
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • one count, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime

Cole appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb 19.
