Two women charged after gun discharged during altercation in North Battleford

Two women have been arrested and charged in relation to a firearm discharge in North Battleford.  

On Feb 16, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an altercation outside a residence on Clark Drive.  

Officers determined the altercation was between a group of people. A firearm was discharged but no one was injured as a result.  

On Feb 17, RCMP arrested two adult women at a residence on Sweetgrass First Nation. While inside the residence, officers seized a handgun, a firearm magazine, and ammunition.  

As a result of investigation, 24-year-old Alexa White from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with: 

  • one count, assault with a weapon 
  • one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license or registration 
  • one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon 
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • one count, discharge firearm while being reckless 

21-year-old Lexie White from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with: 

  • one count, assault with a weapon 
  • one count, discharge firearm while being reckless 
  • one count, restricts/obstruct peace officer 
  • one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • one count, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number 
  • one count, careless use of a firearm 
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 

Battlefords RCMP continues to investigate. Both women are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb 19.
