North Stars new trainer completes all hometown staff

With the hiring of new Trainer/Equipment Manager, Ethan Koliniak, the Battlefords North Stars have filled the quadrant of their all hometown staff circle.

The team has Head Coach and General Manager Garry Childerhose, Assistant Coach Owen Lamb, long time Trainer Dale Jackson and now Koliniak, who are all from the Battlefords.

“Having an all-local staff, it’s a good feeling, it’s makes me more comfortable and with all of us just living and growing up in North Battleford, it just makes it 100 times better.” Koliniak said.

When watching the team grow up, Koliniak explained it was a dream of his and that he always wanted to be a part of the team.

“It was always my dream, seeing all those guys whenever I was a kid, dreaming of being on that bench, one way or another as a player or either a part of the staff and you know, my dream has come true.”

Working currently as a part-time firefighter, Koliniak always knew he wanted to help people and that all started with the influence of his father and family.

“My father is a community safety officer and I kind of grew up around law enforcement and in a first responder family. So it’s been a big part of my life. If there’s a way that I can help anyone then that’s my goal right there is just to help out as much as I can in the medical field”

With the home opener just around corner, Koliniak expressed his excitement about the season starting.

“I am looking forward to a great season, I feel like we’re going to do good this year, you know the nerves are kicking in right now but we are going to try and get it done and then hopefully come away with the win and I am pumped for it.”

Head Coach & General Manager of the North Stars Garry Childerhose had nothing but good things to say about the hiring of Koliniak “We are pleased to add Ethan to our staff. He is a hardworking, motivated individual with a passion for hockey and is eager to get started.”

The first look at this hometown North Stars staff will be tonight for the home opener as they take on the Kindersley Klippers at 7:30 p.m. at the Access Communications Centre.
