House ‘total loss’ following weekend fire

A man was taken to hospital to treat minor cuts after jumping from a second story window and a house has been listed a “total loss” after a fire consumed the building Saturday evening.
The North Battleford Fire Department (NBFD) arrived at the home, located at 952-105th Street around 8 p.m. along with other first responders.
According to a news release, a neighbouring house received “minimal radiant heat damage” and the cause has yet to be determined.
The house was previously connected to Mavis Takakenew, who was sentenced to 18 months in jail for her role in the 2019 death of Tiki Laverdiere. Court documents and previous news reports showed the house on 105th St. N was one of three homes where Laverdiere was assaulted and tortured.
