Man wanted for serious assault still at large after police investigate sighting

RCMP have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man while following up on a tip about a wanted man from Onion Lake.

Tristan Whitstone is wanted for an alleged serious assault in the community from August.

Police said they recently received information that Whitstone’s vehicle, a red car, was near a house in the community.

Officers found the vehicle and two men, one matching Whitstone’s description. The pair attempted to flee from police and a pursuit ensued.

Eventually, the two men left the car and ran away on foot. The passenger was eventually arrested but RCMP say Whitstone escaped.

The 23-year-old man in custody has since been charged with possession of meth, failure to comply with release order conditions, resisting a peace officer, and unauthorized possession of a firearm or restricted firearm.

Whitstone remains at large and RCMP believe he may be with 21-year-old Shanayah Hill, who has been charged with uttering threats, kidnapping with a firearm and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Anyone with the whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
