Ag Society & Rotary get ready for Oktoberfest

It will be a fun time to raise a glass and enjoy a night out with friends and family during Oktoberfest in the Battlefords.

The Battlefords Agricultural Society and The Rotary Club of the Battlefords are teaming up to present this fundraiser event once again this year. Funds will benefit various programs to serve the community.

Ag Society General Manager, Jocelyn Ritchie, encourages people to purchase a ticket early.

The event will take place at the Agrivilla building on the exhibition grounds in North Battleford on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

People can enjoy traditional German food and a special German beer made by the Armoury. There will also be dancing, live music and a host of fun games, such as keg rolling, beer stein rolling, as well as log rolling, in which to partake. People can also take part in relay races.

“You can eat and drink, and just have fun,” Ritchie said.

The night also includes music from a live band as well as dancing.

The Battlefords Agricultural Society and The Rotary Club of the Battlefords have been collaborating to host this event for about the last five years now.

“It’s just a great evening,” Ritchie said. “We have traditional German food. We have Bratwurst and the big pretzels, and different things you can purchase.”

She added to make it easier for those attending, organizers plan to offer a “Safe Ride Home” option. People can get a ride home provided by volunteers if they wish.

Admission is available in advance or at the door for walk-ins. People must be 19 years of age and older to attend.

“It’s been put on for quite a few years now, and everybody has a good time,” Ritchie said. “If you’ve never come before, we guarantee if you do come, you’ll have a great time.”
