Beardy’s murder case committed for trial in Saskatoon
Three people charged in the death of a man at Beardy’s Okemasis Cree Nation, have now been committed for trial.
Scotty Jimmy, Robbie Cameron and Dana Morningchild, were all initially charged with second degree murder but those charges have since been upgraded by the Crown to first degree murder.
The preliminary inquiry hearings for Jimmy and Cameron were held Tuesday at Saskatoon Provincial Court. Morningchild’s charge was committed last month.
On March 27, 2022, officers found the victim, Cody Tait, lying on the road and, despite life-saving attempts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
