Creighton RCMP use drone to find missing man in wooded area

A missing man is back home safe thanks to new technology being used by RCMP.

Around 4 p.m. on Aug. 29, Creighton RCMP received a missing person report after an elderly man disappeared while picking berries on trails along Highway 106.

When officers started their search, they heard distant yelling coming from the wooded area.

A Mavic drone was launched and was able to find the man. It stayed hovering above until officers were able to contact the man.

This was the first time Creighton officers used this drone to help find a missing person as officers were only trained on how to use it over the past year.

Flin Flon RCMP also helped during the search and brought the man out of the wooded area with an ATV. He was evaluated by EMS on scene but was not taken to the hospital.
